The Sitting Month, Part 2

More photos of Fiona at her grandparents' house... Vivian's Mum has been a great help to us, cooking for Vivian, doing laundry, bathing the babv, and so on. We are looking forward to getting back to our own house, but we really appreciate all the help provided here.
Fiona is becoming more and more alert and aware, but she still sleeps most of the time!

The Sitting Month, Part 1

Here we are at Vivian's parents' house. It's a Chinese tradition for the mother to spend the first month of the baby's life under house arrest! Actually they say it is for the mother to regain her vitality, and also to have better health later in life. Vivian has been eating a lot of special nutritious Chinese food, and spending a lot of time lying down. Fiona is becoming cuter as the days go by.

More Fiona pictures at the hospital

Some people have been asking for more details about Fiona: She was born at 11:55 am on Thursday, November 3rd. She weighed 3190 grams at birth, and was 47 cm long. After a long and unproductive labor (over 30 hours), the doctor gave Vivian a c-section delivery.

Vivian checked out of the hospital on Monday November 7. She is now doing her "sitting month" to recover.

Fiona's room

Fiona's room is finally ready! I've spent months sewing the sheets, curtains, chair cover, etc. The room needs a lot of space for all those baby stuffs. Now it is finished. Do you like it?

Vivian's baby shower

This baby shower was really something unusual for me. We don't do this in Taiwan at all. I really appreciate how Rachel and other friends made this happen for me and Fiona. Thanks all of you who came!
Fiona has been moving a lot lately. She probably can't wait to come out and see her gifts!

Teapot Mountain and Gold Melon Stone

Another hiking adventure... the weather was a bit rainy, but I guess it was a blessing because it might have been too hot otherwise. Lots of exciting terrain on the trail, plus some historical curiousities. This area was once a gold mining town, and many relics from the Japanese colonial era still remain. Kirt, Michael and Wei Guo made the day more fun :-)

And last but not least: A cool little slideshow of the best pics from the trip!
